Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Pilot, the Assistant Chief Pilot is responsible for supervision of air crew, adherence to procedures, scheduling, training and associated programs. They will ensure that pilots are operating safely, effectively, on time and are regulatory compliant, all the while continuously evaluating the company procedures for effectiveness and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

·        Accept responsibility as delegated by the Chief Pilot for tasks and assignments associated with the managing of line operations, pilot supervision and SMS administration

·        The continuous promotion of positive employee engagement with respect to Customer Satisfaction and On-Time Performance

·        Assist in conducting aircraft and/or simulator and ground training as required

·        Coordinate with third party service providers on 703/704/705 aircraft operations, e.g. performance data, charter flight coordination, Nav Canada, airport authorities, etc.

·        Provide day-to-day oversight and supervision of pilot groups

·        Coordinate the administering of directives and notices to flight crew

·        Coordinate safety management system administration associated with aircraft operations

·        Responsible for actions associated with Emergency Response plan as may be outlined in Emergency Response Manual

·        Ensure that safety is present in all decisions and actions

·        The Assistant Chief Pilot shall fly a minimum of two scheduled days per month or as operationally required within the scope of Flight and Duty regulatory requirements including office duties

·        Perform/delegate Line Checks as may be required

·        Approved Check Pilot (ACP) duties

·        Assist and step in for department as required

·        Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications

·        High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent

·        Hold a valid Airline Transport Pilots License (aeroplanes) with a valid Group 1 Instrument Rating

·        Hold a type rating for at least one of the types of aeroplanes (as applicable)

·        Have at least three years’ experience as PIC of company aircraft

·        Be qualified in accordance with the Company’s training program as PIC on one of the types operated, and demonstrate knowledge with respect to the content of the Company Operations Manual, Flight Crew Training Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, Company Check Pilot Manual and the provisions of the regulations and standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position

·        Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)

·        Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations

·        Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset

Working Conditions

·        Physically able to perform all listed job duties

·        Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role

·        Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals

·        Ability to attend and conduct presentations

·        Various shifts at a fast pace in order to meet service level requirements of the airline

·        Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
